Race start time is 8:30 AM, Saturday, May 30. This is a closed course 5K featuring 1.1-mile loops. The starting line and finish line are in separate locations to adjust for the distance.

COURSE NOTES​
Runners are asked to stay to the right; pass on the left.

Unauthorized Vehicles

No unauthorized vehicles are permitted on the course.

No personal bicycles, rollerblades, scooters are permitted on the course.

Strollers are permitted, however must begin at the back of the start corral unless permitted by race management.
Road Conditions
-
The course includes paved roads that may contain cracks, uneven pavement, or debris.

The Course is closed and will be monitored by the Norman Police Department and the OU Police Department.

Action Safety has been engaged to install signage and cones throughout the entire course. Volunteers will provide directional guidance at key points.

Runners must obey all instructions from police officers, course officials, and volunteers.

Adaptive Athletes

Pacers, bicycle assistants are permitted only for registered Adaptive Athletes.

NUTRITION
Start Line Hydration

Water will be available at the starting line.
Race Fuel

As race fuel is a highly personal choice with numerous nutritional considerations participants are asked to supply their own race fuel (BYOG).

All participants are strongly encouraged to hydrate properly before race day and prior to the start of the event.
MEDICAL
Participant Responsibility

As with most sports, running a road race involves a number of inherent risks, including but not limited to tripping and falling, contact with other participants or spectators, the effects of weather, traffic, and road conditions.

On-Site Medical Support

EMSTAT will be stationed at the start/finish line.

First aid and ice will be available near the start/finish line.

In addition to water stations, approximately 20 volunteers will be positioned throughout the course to assist runners.

If You Feel Unwell

Runners experiencing a medical issue should call 911 immediately or notify the nearest course volunteer for assistance.

If you drop out of the race, please notify an aid station or course volunteer.

Emergency Contact Information

Runners are encouraged to write emergency contact information on the back of their bib and carry medical identification if they have known conditions.

WEATHER
Severe Weather
-
In the event of severe weather, race officials will evaluate conditions and determine appropriate safety actions. Participants should monitor event communications and follow all official instructions.

​In case of a weather emergency, please take refuge in the Oklahoma Memorial Union on Asp Avenue.
Lightning
-
In the event of lightning, the race will be delayed until a point that it is safe to commence. Participants should seek shelter immediately if instructed.
Historic Average Weather Conditions
-
Temperatures in late May usually range from comfortable, in the low 60s°F at night, to warm, in the mid-80s°F during the day.

In the case of excessive heat or humidity, participants should adjust pacing accordingly. If temperatures or heat index reach unsafe levels, event may be postponed or delayed until it is safe to continue, and additional hydration measures may be implemented.
